Today, exactly one year ago, we got our very first foster dog, and up until this day, she is still my favourite and most unforgettable foster dog. Her name was Saffi. She was a 1 year old German Shepherd cross. Saffi was here for a total of 6 weeks before going to her new home, and since then we’ve had many different dogs come in and out of our home, and even a cat and some kittens! Grommit and Benji are our 10th and 11th dogs here, and certainly won’t be the last!

Here are some pictures from over the last year. There not really ‘good’ photos, but just my favourites for one reason or another, which i’ll explain.

Cas and kaz
I love this picture purely because of the completely delirious look on Kazs face and the “uh oh” look on Cassies. He might look like a big akita dog sometimes but he really was a huge softie!

Kaz
What can i say? You have to laugh at that face. I’m going to guess he’s looking like that because he didn’t feel to comfortable being so close to another dog (he was with Cass at the time), but as you can see he got over that pretty quickly.

Kaz and Cas

Cassie, Flossy and Eflin
I love this because i know Cassie is thinking ” i don’t really like other dogs” but she knows, as do i, there wouldn’t have been a chance to get these two to leave you sitting on your own!

Bonny
ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Maggie and Benji
One of my favourites, because for once maggie is lifting her paw in a nice playful way, not a “ARGH, i have my claws out, I’m gonna jump and attack you, if you don’t move NOW” kind of way. I think she quite liked Benji, and he certainly seemed to like her.

Paddy
Does this really need any words? Look at that face!

Grommit
Again, needs words? I think Grom looks gorgeous here!

Grom, Benji & Cas
I love this. I think it shows how far Cassie has come over the last year. The first picture shows her being chased (which i know she loved really!
) by Saff, but know she’s the one doing the chasing, and cleary enjoying herself. In fact, it’s her “chasing” that got her two pulled muscles and housebound for 8 weeks!

Congratulions on a wonderful year Chelsea – your pictures and video say it all.
It must be hard work, physically and emotionally, but you have put these dogs first and I am sure they would thank you, if they could!
Honestly, I know it sounds mushy, but where would we be without foster homes. Bailey was in a rescue centre with very very good people but a home environment surpasses kennels every time!
